Retail Shop Grand Opening

Magic of Motoring Limited, global custodians of the Shell brand pre-1980, based locally in Milton Keynes, celebrated the Grand Opening of the first Retro styled Shell retail shop in Newport Pagnell with a display of exotic cars, trucks and bikes.

Magic of Motoring developed the official range of vintage Shell clothing, artwork and apparel and with the opening of the Newport Pagnell concept store it was available on the High Street for the first time.

The range included the '60 Collection', a celebration of Shell's successful partnership with Ferrari as well as the ever-popular Shell race suits, 'Pit Lane' mechanic's overalls and the 'Executive Collection' including leather bags, gloves and attaché cases.

Also available for the first time were faithful reproductions of some pieces from the Shell Art Collection.

Aston Martin Works Service, Porsche GB and Classic Porsche Specialist Export 56 supported the event which ran all-day. Mayor of Milton Keynes Mr Euan Henderson and MK Dons chairman Pete Winkleman cut the ribbon to celebrate the official opening.

A range of activities were organised around the shop on the High Street with a display of 50 vintage Scooters parked alongside a 1950's Petrol Pump Island. Further displays of motoring exotica took place in the courtyard of a local landmark hotel which included a stunning line up of important race and road going Aston Martins and Porsches. One of the stars of the show was Sir Paul McCartney's Aston Martin DB6!

The Porsche display included some milestones in Porsche history including the Mario Andretti Porsche 962, the famous Betty Haig 1951 Porsche 356 PreA, an original 550 Spyder and a very rare 1955 Continental Cabriolet (the only one in the UK!)

Rare Export 56 Porsche cars were also on display from the Garages at the back of the Swan Revived Hotel – including 1953 Pre-A Coupe, 1959 356A Coupe (RHD), 1960 356 Super 90 coupe (RHD) and a 1962 356 race car. During the 1960's AFN ran a weekly parts collection service between Isleworth and Stuttgart which meant the 'AFN' Porsche VW panel van, also on display, was very popular with enthusiasts.

In the overflow car park, Magic of Motoring had a display of famous Shell liveried Trucks and a Race Transporter as well as a further display of classic cars and a unique display of vintage cycles courtesy of Roy Pink Cycles.

Mick Pacey of Magic of Motoring commented "I have always lived locally so it's special to me that my home town is going to be the first in the world to benefit from this concept. We shall be creating a really significant venue worthy of Newport Pagnell - one of the world's most historically important motoring towns.

"Having been starved good news for some time, Newport Pagnell is now undergoing a revival of its own and we see this major investment as something that will bring many more people to our historic town."
